GLASS
Allowed: Clear, green, and brown bottles and jars are acceptable. Food and beverage containers only. Discard lids and caps, rinse clean. Labels and neck rings are OK.
Not allowable: Plastic bags, plate glass, mirrors, drinking glasses, crystal, Pyrex, light bulbs, medicine bottles, ceramics, bottles containing hazardous products, like cleaning supplies, canning, jars, wire caps, lids.
CANS
Allowed: Aluminum, tin, and foil. Rinse clean, place metal lids inside can and pinch top together. Labels are OK. Aerosol cans must be empty—dispose of caps.
Not allowed: Plastic bags, food residue, pesticide cans, syringes, gas, propane containers, scrap metal, pots & pans,
PLASTIC BOTTLES OR JUGS
Allowed: The Town recommends that residents recycle plastic items with numbers 1, 2, and 5 only for the weekly recycling pickup. Narrow-necked household bottles. Household products, beverage, and food containers. Top openings must be smaller than base. Discard lids and caps. Rinse clean, flatten if possible. Labels and neck rings are okay.
Not allowed: Wide-mouth stackable containers (yogurt-type), no PVC, no take-out containers, microwave trays, lids, toys, pails, six-pack rings, pesticide containers, automotive oil based product bottles, or plastic bags, Styrofoam, Do not tie jugs with string.
CORREGATED CARDBOARD & BOXES
Allowed: Paper Cartons (milk, juice and egg). Multi-layer cartons and single-layer cardboard. Clean corrugated boxes, paper grocery bags, cereal, cracker, cake mix, pasta, shoe, and tissue boxes. Remove plastic liners. Flatten boxboard. Pieces must-be no larger than 4'x4'x1.5' for pickup. Stack neatly next to or in the recycling bin.
Not allowed: Wax- or plastic-coated boxes, wood, plastic, or string. No leftover food. No boxes from wet foods like ice cream, frozen foods, or take-out foods.
NEWSPAPER & MIXED PAPER
Allowed: Newspaper and mixed paper, including office paper, file folders, office paper, mail, greeting cards, including junk mail and envelopes. Magazines and phone books (catalogs/soft-cover books).
Not allowed: Do not put in plastic bags. Paper towels and facial tissue.
COMPUTERS & BATTERIES
Not allowed at this time: Used computers, computer equipment, and batteries, electronic waste — including VCR tapes, CDs, and DVDs.
HAZARDOUS WASTE & MEDICAL WASTE - not accepted.
