ANNOUNCEMENT OF CANDIDATE FILING PERIOD FOR THE 

CORPORATION OF SHEPHERDSTOWN 

MUNICIPAL ELECTION

TUESDAY, JUNE 2, 2026

The Corporation of Shepherdstown will hold its Municipal Election on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Town Hall for the purpose of electing officials to two-year terms for the offices of Mayor, Recorder, and five (5) Council Members.

Candidate filing will open on Monday, March 2, 2026, and close on Friday, March 13, 2026. Candidates are required to file a notarized Certificate of Announcement.

Certificates of Announcement may be obtained at Shepherdstown Town Hall, located at 104 North King Street, Shepherdstown, WV, or found here and downloaded.

Completed Certificates of Announcement may be returned to Town Hall by hand delivery at the above address or by U.S. Postal Service mail to P.O. Box 248, Shepherdstown, WV 25443. Mailed certificates must be postmarked no later than midnight on the final day of filing.

To be eligible to file, a candidate must meet the requirements of a registered voter, including being a United States citizen, at least 18 years of age, a resident of the municipality, and not under conviction of a felony or otherwise disqualified under law.
