The Town of Shepherdstown is continuing to gather community feedback regarding the proposed Market House Plaza concept.
As
many residents may already know, the Town is exploring the possibility of
piloting a temporary pedestrian-focused plaza around and behind the Historic
Market House as a way to enhance the vibrancy, walkability, and community use
of the downtown district. The current concept under consideration would involve
testing the plaza idea for approximately three months before determining
whether any long-term or permanent investments should be considered.
On May
21, the Town hosted a Community Conversation event to share initial concepts
and gather public feedback. More than 50 residents, business owners, and
community members attended to learn more about the proposal and offer thoughts,
ideas, and concerns.
For
those who were unable to attend—or for anyone wishing to provide additional feedback—the
Town welcomes continued public input.
Residents may now submit comments, suggestions, and reflections regarding the plaza concept through the Town’s online feedback form available here.
Download the form, fill it out, and email it to comments@shepherdstown.gov.
Community input will continue to play an
important role as discussions surrounding the potential pilot project move
forward.
Thank you!
