Come Enjoy Free Outdoor Music Events in Downtown Shepherdstown on the First Fridays of May and June

We’re excited to announce that Shepherdstown will sponsor free live outdoor music events on First Friday Evenings in May and June this year.  

Plan to come downtown to enjoy the music, meet up with friends, and get into the mood for summer!  Bring your lawn chairs or blankets, perhaps purchase picnic treats from a local business, and stay to dine, shop, or play after the music ends.

The First Friday, May 2 event will feature “Those Three Guys” (featuring local favorite, Alex Kerns), from 5 – 7 pm, with King Street closed between Town Hall and McMurran.

The First Friday, June 6 event is being planned, and the featured performer will be announced soon.   

Several shops will stay open late on these evenings (until at least 8 pm) and offer specials and promotions to add to the festivities.  

Stay tuned for details on additional First Friday events throughout the year, with more live music and other arts and cultural activities for everyone to enjoy.

This is all part of the Town's Vibrant Downtown Initiative, which aims to enhance the downtown experience and help our businesses thrive. Of the businesses that were interviewed last fall, 75% said that events were helpful for their businesses, and many asked for more, especially First Friday-type events with coordinated stay-open-late hours. Live music and other activities help attract people to town, and coordinated business promotions help bring those people through their doors.
