Special Town Council Meeting on April 29, 2025, for Selection of New Town Council Member

The Town Council will select an individual to fill the vacant Town Council position at a Special Town Council Meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29 at Town Hall.    Residents are encouraged to attend in person or view the proceedings via Zoom.

Carrie Blessing, Nancy Stewart and Greg Welter submitted applications for appointment by the application deadline and, as required, also submitted written responses to questions about their skills and interests in serving our community.  You can review their information below.

Community members are encouraged to submit questions to be posed to the candidates at the April 29 meeting.  A number of questions submitted by community members will be chosen randomly for posing to the candidates at the meeting.  To submit questions, email them to comments@shepherdstown.gov by 5:00 pm Tuesday, August 29

See below for each candidate’s responses to the following questions:

  1. What skills do you bring that would benefit the Town?
  2. What are the pressing issues you see that the Town needs to address and how would you address them?
  3. If you are familiar with the draft 2025 Comprehensive Plan, are these issues addressed in the draft?
  4. How would you engage with the community members to understand their concerns?
  5. How would you work with the mayor and fellow Council members to find common ground on important issues?
  6. Are you able to meet on several evenings every month, several standing meetings and some on an ad hoc basis?
