The Town is aware of ongoing scam attempts involving fraudulent emails that appear to be sent from Shepherdstown officials, targeting residents who have recently applied for permits. These emails may include fake invoices or payment instructions and often use lookalike domain names to appear legitimate.

Please be advised: The Town of Shepherdstown will never request payment via wire transfer or email outside of our official permitting systems.

If you receive a suspicious email regarding permit payments or zoning applications, do not respond or send payment. Instead, contact Town Hall directly to verify the legitimacy of the communication.

We are actively monitoring the situation and encourage all residents to remain vigilant.
